HR & Administration Supervisor
Job Details
The HR & Administration Supervisor manages the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and employee relations at SafeBoda. The role is based in Uganda with an immediate start date. Reporting line includes working with the VP of People on performance management and supporting the Employee Engagement Lead on engagement initiatives. The role ensures compliance with HR policies, local labour laws and safety regulations while overseeing payroll, benefits administration and office management. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the recruitment and onboarding process for full-time staff, contractors and support staff
- Foster positive employee relations by addressing concerns, conflicts and grievances, and support the Employee Engagement Lead to implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance morale and teamwork
- Develop and update HR policies in accordance with local labour laws and company requirements and ensure compliance with all relevant employment regulations and standards
- Work with the VP of People to implement and oversee performance management processes, including goal-setting, appraisals and feedback sessions
- Manage payroll and benefits administration and ensure employees receive accurate and timely compensation and benefits
- Monitor and manage attendance records and leave requests and ensure total leave liability remains within acceptable limits
- Implement and enforce health and safety policies and procedures and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
- Oversee day-to-day administrative functions including office supplies, facilities management and equipment maintenance, and coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for employees when necessary
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and databases and ensure confidentiality and security of HR-related information
- Facilitate effective communication between management and employees and relay important company information and updates to the workforce
- Handle employee separations, conduct exit interviews and ensure smooth offboarding processes
- Stay informed about changes in employment laws and regulations in Uganda and ensure the company's HR practices align with legal requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management
- At least 2 years of experience working as an HR Officer / Associate
- Recruitment and Selection: talent sourcing, recruitment techniques, interviewing skills and assessment methods
- Performance Management: competency in designing and implementing performance appraisal systems and knowledge of performance improvement strategies
- Conflict resolution skills
- Good understanding of employment laws and regulations in Uganda
- Payroll processing: process staff payroll requests to ensure timely and accurate payment of staff salaries
- Policy Development: policy drafting and implementation and knowledge of local labour laws and compliance
- Health and Safety: knowledge of health and safety regulations and implementation of safety programs
- Data Management: proficiency in HRIS (Human Resource Information System) usage and data analysis and reporting skills
- Leadership: ability to lead and motivate a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to influence
- Adaptability, flexibility in handling changing priorities and dynamic work environment
