Job Details
Our client is a leading player in Uganda's automotive and mobility sector, with a strong presence in the motorcycle market. The organization specializes in the distribution and retail of motorcycles, spare parts, after-sales services, and local motorcycle assembly, supported by a growing branch and distribution network across Uganda.
The HR Manager will own the people function end-to-end, covering organizational structure, payroll, performance management, employee accountability, and talent acquisition. The role will also support the business in understanding and improving how it is organized, how people costs are managed, and how HR practices can contribute to overall business performance. This is a full-time, senior management position based in Kampala, Uganda. Work hours: 8 hours per day. Salary: Not Disclosed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand the reporting lines that exist across the group and help improve them
- Own payroll management, attendance, and enforcement of employee accountability
- Run performance tracking across the workforce and ensure performance issues are appropriately addressed
- Support employee cost-cutting by identifying structural inefficiencies, overlaps, and opportunities to improve workforce efficiency
- Help develop and establish SOPs within the company
- Understand the business deeply to hire the right talent and be able to interview across every function to understand how operations actually work
- Own employment contracts in collaboration with the Legal function
- Support workforce planning and ensure the organization has the right people in the right roles
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation
- Support management in addressing employee-related issues and maintaining appropriate workplace standards
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 6–10 years of experience in HR management, ideally within a multi-branch or multi-business group
- Strong experience in payroll management, performance management, and organizational structure
- Commercially minded, with the ability to understand the business, question operations, and connect people decisions to cost and performance
- Strong understanding of HR processes, employee accountability, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness
- Strong interviewing and talent assessment skills, with the ability to understand different functions and identify the right talent
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills
- Minimum experience: 6 years
