Makerere University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Assistant, College of Health Sciences.

  • Employment Type: Contract - 4-year contract
  • Remuneration Scale: PU13
  • Work Hours: 8

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and organize workplace equipment and facilities
  • Implement guidelines and regulations to ensure safety in the workplace
  • Assist in preparing students' practicals
  • Keep records of the materials used in the workplace
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Required Qualification: Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Education Level: Professional Certificate
  • Minimum Experience: 12 months (1 year) of relevant experience
  • Ability to maintain laboratory hygiene, safety and organization
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines and regulations
  • Skills in preparing and supporting student practical sessions
  • Good record-keeping and inventory management for laboratory materials
  • Ability to work under supervision of a Technician and follow instructions
  • Must not exceed 55 years of age at the time of application
