Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH) Diocese of Jinja is a newly established state-of-the-art Private Not-for-Profit (PNFP) hospital founded by the Trustees of the Catholic Diocese of Jinja under the Ecclesiastical Province of Tororo Archdiocese in Eastern Uganda. The hospital missions clinical excellence with Christ-centered compassion, aiming to heal the body, mind and spirit while serving both affluent and vulnerable communities without discrimination, and is envisaged to be a teaching and research hospital offering quality and affordable Godly-touch services to the general population.
The Diocese of Jinja (https://dioceseofjinja.com) was established on 5 August 1966 and serves the people of Busoga through evangelization, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community development. It currently comprises 45 parishes, 45+ schools, 12 health centres and 50,000+ Christians, led by the Apostolic Administrator Most Rev. Emmanuel Obbo A.J.
UMH operates within the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB - https://ucmb.co.ug) network, the health office and technical arm of the Health Commission of the Uganda Episcopal Conference. UCMB coordinates 34 hospitals (including 2 specialized hospitals), 19 training schools and 271 Lower Level Health Units with over 11,323 health workers, delivering curative, preventive and promotive services in line with national health policy with a focus on rural under-privileged communities.
Job Details
Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH) Diocese of Jinja is urgently recruiting a self-motivated, patient-centered and passionate Laundry Attendant to support hospital operations. The role is based in Jinja and is offered on a Full-time basis (Work Hours: 8). The hospital seeks qualified support cadres with valid professional operation license where applicable and registered with relevant council bodies; all successful candidates will undergo reference checks and safeguarding screening in accordance with Diocesan recruitment policies. Base Salary: Not Disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Process hospital linen through washing, drying, ironing, and folding.
- Inspect items for stains or damage before processing.
- Manage linen inventory and ensure adequate stock.
- Adhere to infection control standards in laundry operations.
- Deliver clean linen to hospital wards and departments.
- Maintain hygiene and infection prevention in all laundry handling.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- O-Level certificate (High School) required.
- Experience in laundry operations.
- Hygiene awareness.
- Physical stamina.
- Minimum Experience: 12 months (1 year) in laundry operations.
- Must have valid professional operation license and be registered with relevant council bodies where applicable.
- Self-motivated, patient-centered and passionate with Christ-centered service orientation.
