Job Details

Makerere University invites suitably qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer, Department of Physiology in the College of Health Sciences. The Lecturer will report to the Head of Department and will be responsible for teaching, research and community outreach in Physiology and related biomedical sciences.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach, examine and grade students
  • Supervise research for students
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Conduct research and community outreach activities
  • Write proposals for attracting funding to the department
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned by the Head of Department

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • PhD in Physiology or a closely related biomedical science discipline from a recognized institution
  • A Master of Science degree in Physiology from a recognised institution
  • An honors Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), or a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognised institution
  • Registration from the respective professional body
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, supervise research and conduct community outreach
  • Capacity to write fundable proposals
