AsOne Ministries is a Christ-centered, non-profit organization investing in holistic development in rural, underserved communities across Uganda. The Mathematics/Science Primary School Teacher is responsible for nurturing well-rounded, spiritually rooted, and academically prepared students beyond academic instruction, upholding the professional code of conduct for educators. The role is based in Kaberamaido, Uganda, and is full-time (8 hours), reporting to the Head Teacher. Salary not disclosed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with national and school curricula
  • Teach engaging, inclusive, and Christ-centered lessons in Mathematics and Science and relevant subjects
  • Provide remedial support where needed, following the school timetable
  • Assess and evaluate student learning through formative and summative tools
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
  • Maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide guidance and counseling to students and maintain discipline while promoting mutual respect and spiritual growth
  • Uphold Christian values and integrate Biblical principles into classroom discussions
  • Maintain accurate class records, including attendance, inventory, assessments, and progress reports
  • Participate in internal examinations: setting, administering, and marking
  • Engage with parents and guardians through regular communications and meetings
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance school-wide programs
  • Participate in school initiatives, including devotions, fellowships, and outreach programs
  • Reflect on teaching practices and pursue continuous personal and professional growth
  • Stay current with educational research and teaching methodologies

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Primary Education from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in primary education
  • Solid understanding of Mathematics and Science subject matter, curriculum, and teaching strategies
  • Proficient in lesson planning, classroom delivery, and student assessment
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement techniques
  • Ability to integrate technology in teaching and learning
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records and reporting student progress
  • Capable of creating a safe and nurturing environment for students' academic and spiritual growth
  • Jesus-Centered: deep personal faith in Christ and integrates Christian values into teaching
  • Humble, Hungry, and Smart: lifelong learner with emotional intelligence and servant-hearted attitude
  • Leadership-oriented, relational and outgoing, analytical, and demonstrates integrity consistent with Biblical teachings
  • Committed to engage in school devotions and fellowships regularly; single or married to one spouse in alignment with ministry values
